Below are our Chiropractic FAQs to offer further help with the commonly asked questions by those new to chiropractic treatment. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call or contact us.

What is a chiropractor?
Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health.
Chiropractors use a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including hands-on manipulation of the spine. As well as manual treatment, chiropractors are able to offer a package of care which includes advice on self-help, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle changes.
What is an adjustment?

An adjustment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, exercise and acupuncture as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.

How is an adjustment given?

There’s not one defining way, it may be a slow, continuous pressure or a rapid movement. Depending on the root of the pain, the chiropractor may focus on just a part of the spine or give attention to all of it.

What is the popping sound?

The popping noise indicates a joint has been stretched slightly, causing a tiny gas of bubbles to be released. It’s no different to a knuckle cracking.

How long will it take to get well?

This is a hard one to answer, as there is not one rule that fits all. Everyone’s healing period is different and so the time taken for improvement will not be the same for everyone.

Will I need X-Rays?

Our chiropractors will only require an X-Ray if they think it is necessary judging from the findings of their initial consultation with you. X-Rays are an excellent diagnostic tool and will definitely be used if a more in depth analysis is required. Our chiropractors will not start treatment until they have ascertained they understand the full cause of your pain.

How often will I need to come?

We advise more frequent visits during the start of your treatment plan, but your chiropractor will be able to recommend a time scale to get the best results from your treatment. The more frequently the adjustments occur, the better your body will respond to the treatment; however the frequency of your visits will be able to be reduced once your spinal functionality improves. We recommend on-going treatment to maintain an excellent level of health and to stop your body deteriorating once again.

How much will it cost?

We want our health care to always be available to those in need, which is why our prices are competitive and reasonable. The cost of treatment will vary from person to person and depends on many factors such as the seriousness of the core problem and whether at-home exercises and stretches have been carried out properly.

What is a Misalignment?

A misalignment is usually a radiographic (x-ray) finding, usually measured in millimeters, that represents one or more segments of the spine out of alignment with adjacent segments of the spine.

Will I need to remove clothes for my treatment?

Your consultation and chiropractic treatments will be done fully clothed so there is no need to feel uncomfortable.
