Why Do New Chiropractic Patients Choose Our Care?
What is Chiropractic and why do new chiropractic patients... or "Practice Members" as we call them at LIFE Chiropractic ... come to us from all over the country and from across the North of England? Why spend the time, energy and finances to come to see us when there are plenty of different treatments available for FREE on the NHS? The main reason is that: Chiropractic WORKS! 95.4% of people who attend our office get an improvement in Quality of LIFE. Full details are
here.

The other reasons are many but include...... they have tried everything else. ... they value their health and that of their family and feel there is something not quite right in always using drugs to supress symptoms. ... they have heard many good things about chiropractic from friends, family or public figures. What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care as envisioned by the early chiropractors and as practised at LIFE Chiropractic TM is:A. Very different to the Practise of Medicine. (The diagnosis and treatment of symptoms and disease).
B. A method of restoring the OVERALL health of the body by improving nervous system function. C. A form of care which facilitates expression and healing of the body from the inside and thus bring health externally... an INSIDE - OUT ideology based on your bodies natural healing ability ... instead of using chemicals, surgery or forces externally to attempt to change the internal expression of health... an OUTSIDE - IN ideology based on the premise that we knows educatedly what is best for the health of the body. What Does "Chiropractic" Mean?
The word 'chiropractic' was derived from several Greek Words by the Reverend Samuel Weed, an early patient and strong chiropractic advocate.1.'Cheir' or 'Kire' meaning 'The hand' and 2.'Praktos' meaning 'Done by' 3. 'Chiriatry' the science and art of hand healing. Thus 'Chiropractic' (pronounced Ky-ro-prac-tic) means 'The science and art of doing by hand'. Chiropractor means 'A hand practitioner'.

Chiropractic Defined
No firm definition of Chiropractic was coined by the early chiropractic pioneers as 'the baby' was still embryonic and developing and indeed the first book on the subject was not written until 11 years after the discovery amidst considerable controversy between DD Palmer (the Founder of Chiropractic) and his son, BJ Palmer (the Visionary & Developer). That said, both pioneers agreed that:1. Chiropractic is an philosophy, art and science of Life. 2. There are some very clear principles which distinguish chiropractic from any other healing art in existence. 3. It is a systematic method of adjusting the segments of the spine for the resolution of the cause of 'dis-ease' or loss of 'tone' in the nervous system (both terms represent a lack of balance in the nervous system which can lead to lowered health levels manifesting over a period as symptoms and disease). 4. The cause of the 'dis-ease' (lack of function in areas of the body which may OR MAY NOT have symptoms)is an imbalanced segment of the spine which puts undue pressure on nerve fibres and distorts the flow of mental impulse from the brain to the body. (The chiropractic term "Vertebral Subluxation" was coined by BJ Palmer for this hypothesis). 5. Chiropractic is unique in the healing professions as a non-therapeutic (does not treat symptoms), non-mechanistic science, art and philosophy (the phenomena of healing occurring from within through the body's own vital forces). Confusion exists today as individuals and organisations with vested interests and belief systems indoctrinated in other therapeutic practices have generated their own definitions of chiropractic since the principles of chiropractic were first discovered in 1895. In many cases a lack of understanding of the profound implications of the chiropractic principles has been brought into the interpretations. As such, many definitions resemble the original healing art, philosophy and science of Chiropractic in name alone.
