“No pain, No gain!” What rubbish! No wonder so many people have difficulty getting their 3 x 1/2 hour sessions in every week. Here are some tips to help you rediscover the joys of exercise. Tip 1 – Understand the BenefitsMovement is LIFE. As we move our spinal discs self-lubricate and keep themselves "plumped up". This ensures that the exit-holes in the spine stay as big as possible. This reduces the chance of vertebral subluxations (nerve interferences from a poorly balanced spine) occurring. Movement in the spine also generates electrical energy which "charges" up energy reserves in various areas of the brain. As we breathe hard and oxygenate our bodies dead and mutant cells (such as cancerous cells) are killed. As such exercise has huge benefits regenerating your healthy body. Tip 2 – Enjoy what you are doingExercise does not mean running a marathon. Salsa dancing, Gardening, African Drumming, Martial Arts, a walk in Saltwell park or along the beach – these are all extremely healthy forms of movement. The most important thing is that you really enjoy what you are doing – especially if you want it to be an ongoing healthy habit. Tip 3 – Multitask or "Layer" Your ActivitiesYes, even the guys can multitask like this. While out moving why not: 1. Listen to your iPod (or Walkman). You can learn a new language, listen to self improvement experts such as Anthony Robbins (his "Hour of Power" cd is ideal) or download information from www.Ted.com.2. Use “incidental exercise”. Make cleaning the house, or car or doing the garden part of your exercise routine. Do it vigorously. Plug yourself in to some groovy music and really go for it.3. Be grateful for all the things in your life as you exercise. Reflect on your day. Reflect on life goals. Tip 4 – Schedule it ProperlyDo not approach this as laborious exercise but "sacred" time for yourself. Choose what time works best for you. Have your training clothes ready to go at the end of the bed if you choose a morning slot. Let everyone know that this is your special time and ask them to respect it. Tip 5 – Have a VisionWhy are you exercising? If you have more vitality and energy what are you going to do with it? Is your aim to run around with your great grandchildren at the age of 90, or to lower your handicap on the golf-course, or to start a new and successful business? Have a vision. You can even make it real with a Vision Board. Pull inspiring pictures from internet or magazine which represent your ideal. Put them together in a special place (such as inside your gym locker or wardrobe). Tip 6 - Use Chiropractic as Natural Movement & Performance EnhancerTop sportsmen like Lance Armstrong and Evander holyfield have used chiropractic as a performance enhancer for decades. You can take advantage of the benefits of better motion and improved nerve system function too. And with LIFE Chiropractic you can also use the “POWER Shirt” to help with your exercise programme!
